BOOK REPAIRS & RESTORATIONS
We lovingly restore family heirlooms, old bibles, collector’s editions and historical journals
There are three typical cases depending on the state of the book:
Total repair – A sympathetic approach toward the original binding reusing as much of the existing materials as possible.
Re-backing – removing and replacing the book’s spine while retaining the original boards. Where possible, the existing spine will be remounted.
Re-binding – replacement of the original binding with a new cover using traditional methods and appropriate binding styles.
Materials used for the Repair Process:
- Fine Cloth, Leather and Traditional Marbled Paper are use to make the cases.
- Antique and Acid Free End-Papers are used to protect the text and maintain the look of the book.
- Leather is treated to restore its lustre and preserve it well into the future.
